Yerin Ha’s Surprising Pride and Prejudice Reference Ahead of Bridgerton Season 4

Bridgerton fans eagerly awaiting Season 4 will need to hold out until summer 2026, but hints about the new season have started to emerge, especially regarding the romance between Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (portrayed by Yerin Ha). With Season 4 now in production, Ha recently spoke with TV Insider about inspirations for the couple’s love story and dropped an intriguing comparison.

During the Dune: Prophecy premiere in New York City on October 30, Ha reflected on the chemistry between Benedict and Sophie, revealing a surprising literary influence. Though the love story in Season 4 draws directly from Julia Quinn’s An Offer From a Gentleman, Ha shared that one moment during filming made her think of a different classic romance: Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

Ha said:
“It’s funny because there was a scene, and I literally said to Luke, ‘You’re giving Mr. Darcy vibes 100 percent.’ So, I guess Pride and Prejudice for me. I don’t think the showrunners are thinking that, but for me, I’m thinking Pride and Prejudice.”

What to Expect in Bridgerton Season 4

Season 4 will focus on Benedict’s love story with Sophie, a maid he meets at a masquerade ball hosted by his mother. Disguised as the “Lady in Silver,” Sophie’s true status remains hidden, setting the stage for a Cinderella-like romance amid the glamorous intrigue of the ton.

Recently, Ha and Thompson shared a preview of the masquerade ball scene, reading from An Offer From a Gentleman. Thompson began with, “This year’s most sought-after invitation must surely be that of the Bridgerton masquerade ball to be held Monday next.” Ha continued, “Indeed, one cannot take two steps without being forced to listen to some society mama speculating on who will attend.” Thompson followed up, “And perhaps more importantly, who will wear what.” Ha then looked at Thompson, adding, “You know what this means, don’t you?” to which he replied, “I believe it means we have a ball to get ready for.”

Bridgerton Season 4 will debut in August 2026. For more updates, stay tuned to Collider, and catch up on past seasons on Netflix.
