‘You Can Find Love at Any Age’: Mel Owens Praises His Golden Bachelor Ladies md18

23 women aged 58-77 head to the Bachelor mansion when the show premieres Sept. 24 on ABC

It’s “game on” for our new Golden Bachelor, Mel Owens, as he heads to the mansion for a new season of “The Golden Bachelor.”

Owens is a former NFL player, current lawyer and divorced father of two sons who’s getting another shot at love. And he admitted to On The Red Carpe that he got a case of pre-game jitters as the limos started pulling up.

“I had butterflies. I was nervous. I was frazzled, too. And then, you know, as the women were coming up, we’re going, hey, I’m nervous. You’re nervous, too, but then there’s a certain calmness of it,” he said.

There may have been a little extra reason to be nervous for Owens. He made headlines this summer for some controversial comments he made about wanting younger women to be cast on his season. He apologized for the “insensitive” things he said and told On The Red Carpet he made sure to address the issue with the ladies of his season on the very first night.

“They wanted to see it in my eyes, how sincere I was. I was sincere. It mattered to me and it mattered to them. So, we just had the frank discussions and I asked for forgiveness and give me a chance and let me earn it back and I think I did,” he said.

Owens called the women vying for his heart “amazing” and said they are the reason viewers should tune in to “The Golden Bachelor.”

“They’re just tremendous,” Owens exclaimed. “They’re so energetic and sophisticated and put together, right, they’re great.”

The 23 women headed to the mansion are aged 58-77, and their careers range from vineyard owner to luxury yacht sales rep to college sports consultant to retired biomedical engineer to retired firefighter and bomb tech.

“I tried not to form the snap judgments right when they got out, right? Because you’ve got to meet them…But you are thinking, it’s just human nature to say ‘wow!,'” he continued.

“You can find love at any age…and you’ll see this on the show how wonderful these women are.”

As for whether Owens found love? This was his response.

“Can you keep a secret? Me too!”

“It’s gonna be epic, you’ve really gotta tune in. Just tune in and let the journey take you,” he teased.

We’ll have to see how it all plays out when “The Golden Bachelor” premieres September 24 on ABC and streams the next day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
