Years before Mandy arrived, Georgie’s first love in Young Sheldon was classmate Veronica. She first appeared as a typical rebellious teenager, but that act turned out to be a cover for her unstable home life. She became a genuine part of the Cooper family until her exit in the third season. Veronica was a fan-favorite character, and many still believe she and Georgie may reconcile someday. But is there any truth to this? And could we ever get a concrete answer about Georgie’s married life post-Mandy?
Veronica’s Role in ‘Young Sheldon’
Fans have never forgotten Veronica, and online discussions constantly bring her up. “Why did she leave?” “Why didn’t Veronica and Georgie end up together?” “Will she come back?” Sorry to disappoint fans, but there’s no real reason (at least storywise) to see Veronica again. She was just someone Georgie briefly knew in high school. Aside from a possible school reunion, her character wouldn’t serve a purpose to the plot of Georgie & Mandy. But logic and reason have never stopped fans from speculating before.
Some Big Bang-verse fans think they’ve found the perfect “in” to get Veronica back on our screens. She will be Georgie’s second wife. Of course, this is just willful speculation, and it’s unlikely to happen. Marrying a girl years after spending a few months talking to her, but never officially dating in high school, isn’t the most realistic life choice. Still, fans think that after Georgie’s divorce from Mandy, he will reconnect with Veronica. Maybe the two run into each other around town and rekindle that old spark. Feels like a Hallmark movie, huh? You really can’t fault fans for having a favorite character, especially when it’s rumored that she may have been intended to fill Mandy’s role as mother of Georgie’s child. Wait, what?
Was It Almost ‘Georgie & Veronica’s First Marriage’?
It’s unlikely there’s any truth to the rumor that Veronica was intended to take Mandy’s place. Mandy didn’t join the show until years after Veronica had left, and her character was originally meant to appear in just a single episode. But let’s assume for a second that it was factual. How would that have changed things? Well, the pregnancy storyline could have come a lot sooner, likely around the fourth season instead of the sixth. As Georgie and Veronica would both have been teenagers, the uncomfortable age gap between him and Mandy wouldn’t have been an issue. If they had managed to stick it out, we might even have seen a Georgie & Veronica’s First Marriage spin-off instead.
