Young Sheldon Season 7 Gets One More Big Change Ahead Of Premiere

Young Sheldon makes another important change for the upcoming season 7, which will be the final season of the Big Bang Theory spinoff prequel show.
Young Sheldon season 7 has changed one more major element. The show is a spinoff and a prequel to the long-running smash hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory, following the younger years of Jim Parsons’ character Sheldon Cooper. While Parsons provides narration for the show, Sheldon is played by Big Little Lies’ Iain Armitage opposite Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Montana Jordan, and Raegan Revord as the rest of the Cooper family.
TVLine has exclusively shared the new opening titles for Young Sheldon season 7. As the release will be the show’s final season, it has been updated to honor the momentous occasion. Most notably, Emily Osment’s Mandy McAllister has been added to the sequence after previously being upgraded to a series regular for season 6.

Young Sheldon’s Opening Title Change Is Big For The Show’s Future

Osment being included with the rest of the Young Sheldon cast in the opening sequence is a natural progression. It’s a way to honor her longevity with the show after starting as a recurring character in season 5 and slowly becoming more prominent, as her character had a baby with Sheldon’s older brother Georgie (Jordan) and eventually accepted his marriage proposal at the end of season 6. However, her presence is also a way for the show to lay the groundwork for what’s to come.
Although Young Sheldon is ending as it approaches the canonical period where Sheldon leaves his family home, the Big Bang Theory universe will keep going strong. Mandy and Georgie are set to be the main characters of a brand-new spinoff, set to premiere in the 2024-2025 season. Their lives as young parents will be explored in the in-development show, which will likely get a 13-episode first season.

Young Sheldon will continue featuring both Mandy and Georgie as main characters in its final season. While their upcoming storylines are still unknown, they will likely build toward a major shift in their lives that leads into the new spinoff, the supporting cast of which remains unknown. With so much of the universe riding on the continuation of this storyline, it makes perfect sense that Mandy now has pride of place in the opening credits along with the rest of the Coopers, even if she hasn’t yet officially joined them by marrying Georgie .
