Young Sheldon Season 7’s Finale Was Already Revealed 6 Years Ago

Young Sheldon will end when Sheldon moves out of the Cooper household and to California — something that was already similarly revealed back in 2018.
Young Sheldon will end because of Sheldon’s upcoming move out of his family home — something that was already tackled back during The Big Bang Theory spin-off’s first year. Despite its continued popularity, Young Sheldon is ending its incredible run on CBS at the end of season 7. The decision is understandably divisive, considering that there are ways to continue the show beyond its current storytelling. However, wrapping up Sheldon and the Coopers’ narrative in Texas is motivated by the established The Big Bang Theory canon, which says that by 14 years old, the boy genius leaves Medford to live on his own in California for his post-graduate studies at Caltech.
Since Young Sheldon has diversified its storytelling, it has become so much bigger and arguably better than just being Sheldon’s origins story. Every member of the Cooper family has had their arcs — some of them are more compelling than the boy genius’. Because of this, there have been calls for it to be separated from The Big Bang Theory, so it can lean on its own identity instead of being a prequel so that Young Sheldon can continue until at least season 8. Unfortunately, its creators maintain that they remain in the same existence, hence why the series ends with a narrative that was already tackled 6 years ago.
Sheldon Already Moved Out In Young Sheldon Season 1

The boy genius’ move out of his childhood home is the organic endpoint of the spin-off, but regardless of how the writers plan to play this out, the show has already shown its fallout. Young Sheldon season 1, episode 10, “An Eagle Feather, a String, and an Eskimo,” which was released in 2018, featured Sheldon moving to Dallas, so he could attend a prestigious school for the gifted. It took Sheldon a while to realize that he didn’t want to live with strangers, but the impact of his absence at home was immediate, especially for Mary. Even both Georgie and Missy were despondent that their know-it-all sibling was far away.

It’s safe to say that the response to Sheldon’s move in Young Sheldon season 7 will be somewhat similar — if not sadder. If The Big Bang Theory spin-off finally tackles George’s death, which syncs in with the timeline of the upcoming year, the Coopers may be looking at a much emptier house once Sheldon also transfers to Pasadena, California, where he will settle for good as seen in the nerd-centric sitcom.
Why Young Sheldon Needs To Show Sheldon In California
Young Sheldon could be The Big Bang Theory prequel that it should have been long after co-creator Chuck Lorre confirmed that they plan to tackle Sheldon’s story in the prequel until he’s 15 years old. By then, he should have already been in California for quite a while. This is a time in Sheldon’s story that the main series never got to explore since flashbacks only tackled how he became friends with Leonard, Howard, and Raj. Seeing him in his early days in Pasadena will be the best way to transition the events of Young Sheldon into The Big Bang Theory — something that they seem to be decided on doing.
