Young Sheldon Spoils Meemaw’s Heartbreaking Cliffhanger Resolution Ahead Of Season 7
A brand new Young Sheldon season 7 set image may have spoiled the resolution to Meemaw’s heartbreaking season 6 finale cliffhanger plot.
The resolution to Meemaw’s cliffhanger fate is spoiled ahead of the Young Sheldon season 7 premiere. While not technically a member of the nuclear Cooper family, Mary’s mother, Connie Tucker has been a fixture in Sheldon and his siblings’ lives, considering that she lives nearby. It’s one of the reasons why the move to Medford from Galveston for the clan made sense after George’s employment woes in their old town. Despite consistently lending support to the Coopers, Young Sheldon has also made sure to develop Meemaw’s own arc, and sometimes, her stories are more compelling.
Young Sheldon spent the first few seasons focusing Meemaw’s plot on her romantic endeavors. Years after the death of her husband, she started slowly dipping her toes back into the dating pool. That all changed in Young Sheldon season 5, when she became an entrepreneur, running a laundry with an illegal gambling den at the back. As she became more financially stable, she also took it upon herself to help Mandy on the heels of her unexpected pregnancy. Sadly, Meemaw was struck with a big tragedy in the Young Sheldon season 6 finale, when the recent tornado demolished her entire house.
The Real Reason Meemaw’s House Was Destroyed In Young Sheldon Season 6
Meemaw’s house needed to be destroyed.
Narratively, the latest Medford tornado was incorporated into the season capper. Each member of the family was subjected to different experiences during the catastrophe except for Mary and Sheldon, who were on their way to Germany. The reveal that Meemaw’s house was completely destroyed didn’t happen until the final moments of Young Sheldon season 6 — after a harrowing time spent with Pastor Jeff sheltering in the gambling backroom. While knocking down Meemaw’s house was a great way to throw the character an unexpected issue, there’s a real-life reason why it had to be torn down.
As subsequently revealed by Missy actress Raegan Revord, the writer of Young Sheldon came up with a story that will explain Meemaw’s house’s destruction since the exterior of the home in the Warner Bros. lot was due to be demolished for new construction. Instead of simply rebuilding the memorable set, CBS decided that it was better for Connie to bid her old digs goodbye.
Meemaw’s House May Have Been Already Rebuilt In Young Sheldon Season 7
New Young Sheldon Season 7 Image Teases Meemaw’s Renovated House
Young Sheldon season 6 leaving Meemaw homeless forced her to shack up with Dale. By then, George already offered to take Mandy, Georgie, and Cece in since Sheldon and Mary were out of the country. It was unclear how The Big Bang Theory spinoff planning was on resolving Meemaw’s housing situation, but ahead of the Coopers’ final small screen return, a new set clip may have confirmed the fate of her house. Revord’s Young Sheldon season 7 video shows her and Montana Jordan casually lounging on Meemaw’s couch, suggesting that Connie will have her home back up in no time.
It shouldn’t be that big of a surprise that Meemaw will be able to get her house re-constructed rather quickly. The illegal gambling den and all of her other businesses have been doing well for quite a while now. While the money stashed in her home got wet, it wouldn’t be difficult to collect and dry them all. Furthermore, Pastor Jeff promised that he would allow his ventures to continue despite discovering their true nature. This means that she will still be able to earn money, allowing her to get the funds needed for her home’s renovation.
How Meemaw’s House Being Rebuilt Impacts Young Sheldon Season 7
Meemaw’s new house can be helpful for the Coopers
Young Sheldon is ending with a shortened season 7, which means that CBS has limited time to set up and execute a satisfying send-off to the Coopers. Considering this, The Big Bang Theory prequel wouldn’t have the time to stretch out Meemaw’s home crisis, so it should be resolved right away. Perhaps it may not be in the premiere, since the Young Sheldon season 7 premiere synopsis revealed that the show will pick up where season 6 left off, but a time jump in the middle of the season will allow for the reconstruction to be done.
In terms of actual storylines, having Meemaw her house back up means that she won’t have to live with Dale that very long. Young Sheldon hasn’t really made any major progress in their relationship, although its status remains unclear. Maybe there’s still a chance that Connie ends up rekindling her romance with Dr. Sturgis instead. Finally, having a second home where the family can coop up can be very helpful in light of George’s inevitable death.
Young Sheldon season 7 premieres Thursday, February 15, 8pm ET on CBS.
