Raegan Revord, who plays Sheldon’s twin sister Missy, recently explained why, despite the show’s timeline slotting neatly between Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory, a Sheldon cameo would not be possible. “That would be so much fun, but I feel like… the whole thing in The Big Bang Theory is Georgie and Sheldon don’t talk, because they kind of have a rift after [their father] George dies,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “And so if they’re sticking to that, I feel like it wouldn’t make sense for Sheldon to come back.”
But fans shouldn’t write off the possibility completely. “Maybe they’ll find a loophole,” the actor added. “They have found loopholes before. Maybe they’ll find one again.” Meanwhile, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 is already complete, with Revord hinting at some fan-favorite returns, including Zoe Perry as Mary Cooper. “It was a lot of fun,” the actor said. “I missed everyone so much. It’s a great storyline.”
Set in 1994, the story follows Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan) and his wife Mandy McAllister (Emily Osment) as they raise their infant daughter CeCe. Other actors who have reprized their roles from Young Sheldon, along with Revord and Perry, are Will Sasso as Jim, Reagan Revord as Missy, Craig T. Nelson as Dale, Annie Potts as Meemaw, and Rachel Bay Jones as Mandy’s mother, Audrey.
Iain Armitage Is Open To Reprising His role As Sheldon
Despite the canon constraints, Armitage previously said he would love to reprise his role as Sheldon. “If I got a call to go back, that’d be so much fun. I’d be honored to,” he said. “I’m also just excited to get to sit back on my couch with some popcorn and watch their show because they’re so good. But I could totally see myself getting in the khakis again, putting on the old penny loafers and bow tie, and going back,” the actor added.
Interestingly, The Big Bang Theory co-creator Chuck Lorre hasn’t ruled out any alumni reprisals in Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. The sitcom will be the third spinoff in the fan-favorite comedy franchise. “I cannot speak to that. That is a closely guarded piece of information that, you know… I’ve taken a blood oath regarding,” he joked, since fans are hoping to see Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons, and Johnny Galecki return as Penny, Sheldon, and Leonard.
Georgie & Mandy‘s First Marriage Season 2 premieres on CBS on Oct. 16. Stuart Fails to Save the Universe does not have a release date at this time.
