Raegan Revord already has their dream Hollywood lineup for ‘Rules for Fake Girlfriends’ and the names might surprise you.
Raegan Revord may be known as the sassy Missy Cooper in the hit series Young Sheldon, but behind their breakthrough role, they have stepped into the literary spotlight with their recently released debut novel, Rules for Fake Girlfriends.
At 17, they have already accomplished so much and are now adding author and publisher to their growing list of titles.
In an exclusive interview with Parade, the former child star opened up about what inspired them to create their debut book and whether they’d be open to a possible on-screen adaptation.
According to Revord, what sparked their interest in writing the young adult novel was the character of Avery herself, whom they “had the idea for a while.”

The author explained that all they knew was how they “wanted to write a character just like her.”
“It was a really random thing,” Revord shared, adding, “No backstory or plot or anything, I just had the character idea.”
In Rules for Fake Girlfriends, the main character, Avery Blackwell, embarks on a scavenger hunt left behind in her late mother’s will.
The first mission takes her to her mom’s alma mater in England, where she unexpectedly meets Charlie, a local girl with whom she strikes a fake-dating pact to win back Charlie’s ex.
For Avery, her new friend soon becomes the one who guides her through the mission, but along the way the two uncover secrets that make everything far more complicated.

Despite the colorful dynamics of the characters, Revord clarified that the story wasn’t based on real-life experiences but was instead “inspired” by the things they “want to happen,” including a move to England, which became the book’s setting.
“This could be manifesting,” they said, adding that it was a “biased thing” for them to mention England. More than that, it was the “things [they] picture” in their head that looked like a “perfect rom-com picture.”
Speaking of picture-perfect scenes, Revord also revealed their dream casting if Rules for Fake Girlfriends becomes a movie adaptation.
Although they don’t have someone in mind for Avery, the Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage star mentioned three possible actresses who they think would fit the characters.
“For Charlie, I could see a younger, 19-year-old Catherine Newton,” they said, while noting that Charlie’s mother would be ideally suited for The Devil Wears Prada star Emily Blunt, adding, “and she’s British too, so it works.”
As for Avery’s mom, Revord named Rachel McAdams as the perfect choice, specifically her role in the rom-com The Family Stone.
With Rules for Fake Girlfriends, Revord proves they’re more than just the beloved character in Young Sheldon. At just 17, the rising star is carving out a creative path entirely their own.
