Young Sheldon Star Teases a ‘Very Emotional’ Series Finale

Young Sheldon star Raegan Revord promises fans that they will be happy with how the final episodes wrap up the show’s many storylines.

Young Sheldon is set to conclude with its currently airing seventh season. Raegan Revord, who portrays Missy Cooper in the CBS comedy series, recently teased what fans can expect from the final episodes of The Big Bang Theory prequel.

Speaking with Screen Rant, Revord shared that the last episodes — which she “really liked” — were “very emotional,” possibly hinting that the series finale will feature the death of George Cooper, a canon event that was first mentioned by an adult Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory. “I think fans are going to be really happy with how it ends, how everything plays out,” she added. “One thing that I’ve been saying is ‘Rice-A-Roni.’ It ties everything together, and it makes no sense, but I promise it will at some point. It’s very fun. The last few episodes are very emotional, but I hope everyone enjoys them.”
Is Missy Returning for the Young Sheldon Spinoff Series?
Although Young Sheldon is ending, The Big Bang Theory Universe is set to continue with an untitled series on CBS following Missy and Sheldon’s older brother, Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan), his wife, Mandy McAllister (Emily Osment), and their daughter, CeeCee. Revord has confirmed that she “wasn’t invited” to star in the Young Sheldon spinoff sequel series, although she is certainly interested in making a guest appearance down the road.

“I would love to [and] I definitely want to,” she told Screen Rant about a possible Missy reprisal in the Young Sheldon spinoff. “I’ve said this a few times. But comedy, it’s very easy to be pigeonholed into. … So I do want to explore the options and see what else is out there. But I love Missy dearly. She’s the first big character I’ve played and I felt I fell in love with her right off the bat from the audition. And so I definitely would love to return to her at some point.”

The Young Sheldon spinoff, which was officially ordered to series by CBS in March 2024, will be executive produced by Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Steve Holland. Warner Bros. TV is producing. It is expected to be part of CBS’ schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 television season.
Jim Parsons Returns as Sheldon for Series Finale
The series finale of Young Sheldon is expected to focus on the title character heading off to Pasadena to attend college, while also possibly setting up the Georgie and Mandy spinoff. However, the final episode of the CBS prequel series will also offer audiences a brief glimpse into present-day Sheldon’s life, as Jim Parsons — who portrays adult Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory and narrates Young Sheldon — is confirmed to have shot a scene for the series finale.

Also appearing in the scene will be Sheldon’s wife, Amy, with Mayim Bayik reprising the role from Big Bang. While it is unknown how the two characters will be utilized in the finale, Parsons recently shared that it was “beautiful” to return as adult Sheldon. He also praised the writers for coming up with a way to “beautifully” work Mayim and him into the show.
