Young Sheldon may have wrapped up its final season last year, but the hit CBS series has found new life on the world’s biggest streaming service. The first six seasons of The Big Bang Theory prequel series had been streaming on Netflix, but the final season joined the rest in the middle of April. This led to Young Sheldon experiencing a swift run into Netflix charts, where it currently resides at #4 at the time of writing. The show earned a score of 84% from general audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it stars Iain Armitage as young Sheldon Cooper, Zoe Perry as Mary Cooper, Lance Barber as George Cooper Sr., Montana Jordan as Georgia Cooper, Raegan Revord as Missy Cooper, Wallace Shawn as Dr. John Sturgis, and even Jim Parsons as older Sheldon Cooper.
Young Sheldon was written and created for television by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, with others such as Steve Holland, Jeremy Howe, Connor Kitpatrick, and more also serving in the writers room. Lorre is also the creator of The Big Bang Theory with Bill Prady, and Molaro worked as a writer on more than 200 episodes of the series despite not being credited as one of the creators. The two are working with Steve Holland to co-create the new series Georgie & Mandie’s First Marriage, which also has Danny Rivera, Laura Wilcox, and Nadiya Chettiar working as staff writers. Lorre is also known for his work on Bookie, the Max original series starring Sebastian Maniscalco and Omar J. Dorsey, and he’s also the creator of the Billy Gardell-led series, Bob Hearts Abishola.
What Other TV Shows Are Popular on Netflix Right Now?
Ransom Canyon, Netflix’s new original Western starring Josh Duhamel, has been one of the most popular series on the streamer since its debut, as well as the latest season of Black Mirror. The only other show to earn a spot ahead of Young Sheldon on Netflix charts is WWE Monday Night Raw, which recently wrapped up an explosive show following WrestleMania 41 weekend in Las Vegas. Race For The Crown, the documentary series about professional horse racing, is also in the Netflix top 10 at the time of writing, along with The Glass Dome, Love on the Spectrum, The Residence, and The Diamond Heist.
