Young Sheldon’s Iain Armitage, 16, Stuns Fans With Grown-Up Look in Cape Town Selfies

Iain Armitage, left, and Jim Parsons on the set of "Young Sheldon" in the 2024 season 7 episode titled, "A Little Snip and Teaching Old Dogs."

Fans saw him as a clever kid and a cute teenager before the show ended last year.

Little has been seen of the 16-year-old Georgia native since the beloved series came to a close as fans clamor for more.
But on Wednesday Iain gave his 1.7M Instagram followers an update in the form of new images of himself as he enjoyed a trip to Cape Town.

The actor had on colorful face paint by his eye as he was seen in close up with a striped shirt on and a ring on his pinky finger.

‘Thank you, Cape Town! Your Table Mountain is one of the best most beautiful places I’ve ever seen,’ he wrote in his caption.
In March there was good news for Young Sheldon fans.

It’s taken more than a year but finally there’s word on when the final season of the hit sitcom Young Sheldon will be released on Netflix.

The streaming giant, which already has the first six seasons currently on the platform, announced the seventh season of the series will drop on April 15, according to MovieWeb.

Now fans, who have been patiently waiting on the news since February 2024, will be able to binge their way through the last 14 episodes of The Big Bang Theory prequel without any interruptions.

And for the newer fans who have climbed aboard in more recent times, they will now be able to power through every single one of the 141 episodes in its entirety.

Netflix subscribers were able to get their first look at Young Sheldon, starring Iain Armitage as the young child prodigy Sheldon Lee Cooper, when the first five seasons were added to the platform in November 2023.

It proceeded to become one of the most watched shows on the streamer for months on end, while being a regular fixture on its Top 10 TV Shows in the U.S. Today chart.
At that time, the teen actor, who plays a younger version of Jim Parsons’ character from The Big Band Theory, maintained he found out the series was on Netflix in the U.S. from a friend.

And actually he sounded a bit stunned and surprised by its phenomenal success and its seemingly growing fan base.

‘I kind of didn’t even really know we were on Netflix until I looked, and I don’t tend to watch much TV,’ he told People.

‘I don’t do any of my own social media. It’s all run by my mom and also by sort of my people, I guess. That sounds so weird, but I’m not hip with the kids, so it’s kind of funny to see that it really has blown up so much.’

Season six ended up being added to Netflix in February 2024, just ahead of Season seven being aired on CBS.

Young Sheldon, which is narrated by Jim Parsons as the voice of adult Sheldon Cooper, ran for seven seasons on CBS from 2017 to 2024.
Created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro it also stars Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, and Annie Potts.

While academically gifted, Sheldon lacks a full understanding of social cues and behaviors, while often showing a sense of superiority over everyone, which leads him to be oblivious to the effect on other people, including his family.

Despite the story revolving around a once-in-a-generation genius who lives in a ‘sometimes dysfunctional family’ in Texas during the late 1980s through the mid-90s, the appeal of the show is far less of a mystery for Armitage.

In fact, he takes pride in idea that some people can turn to the series in order to brighten their day up, even for just a little while.

‘I know statistically that somewhere there must be somebody who had a hard day today or is kind of sad or feeling down … that’s going on Netflix or going on TikTok or going on cable or whatever they’re doing and seeing our show,’ the Savannah, Georgia native, now 16, explained in 2024. ‘Hopefully, that can turn their day around, because sometimes all you need is a little bit of a laugh.’
The huge success of Young Sheldon prequel before and after its original run on TV has since led to a spinoff of its own with Georgie And Mandy’s First Marriage in October 2024.

The new series, focusing on the marriage of young parents Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan) and Mandy McAllister (Emily Osment), has already been renewed by CBS for a second season just this past February.

The Big Bang Theory, starring Parsons, Johnny Galecki, and Kaley Cuoco, ran for 12 seasons, 279 episodes in all, on CBS from September 2007, to May 2019.

Again, Netflix will have all seven seasons of Young Sheldon available on its streaming platform when the last 14 episodes of the show drop on April 15.
