The One Chicago crossover was a success for 2026. So, it’s no surprise that there will be opportunity for more.
NBC’s long-running drama Chicago Fire was renewed for Season 15 on Friday, March 27. That’s no surprise since it’s ranked third among the network’s scripted shows in the key demo among adults 18-49 and for total viewers. But when it does return in the 2o26-2027 season, it will do so with a new showrunner. Andrea Newman is exiting after being part of the series’ entire run, as co-executive producer, then executive producer, then co-showrunner, then showrunner. Co-executive producer Victor Teran will be the new showrunner, Deadline reports.
“Working at Chicago Fire, with the absolute best cast and crew in the business, has been the highlight of my career,” Newman said in a statement to the outlet. “Like so many others, I was inspired to get into TV writing because of Dick, so what a thrill it’s been to work with him and the amazing Wolf team of Peter Jankowski, Rebecca McGill and Anastasia Puglisi. I’m so grateful to them, Derek Haas and the NBC and Universal execs who have been so supportive of the show all along the way. After 14 years, you really do become a family and working with this group will always feel like home.”
Added Jankowski, “We’re sad to say goodbye to Andrea. She’s been at the center of the heart and soul of Chicago Fire since the beginning and the show thrived under her watch. We’re grateful for her commitment to the development of the next generation and know the show will be in great hands with Victor taking the reins.”

Is Chicago Fire renewed for Season 15?
Yes, the series was renewed on March 27. And that’s earlier than the pickup last year; the first responder drama wasn’t renewed for Season 14 until May 2025.
When will Chicago Fire Season 15 premiere?
It’s too soon to tell. But we’d expect it to remain a fall show — putting a premiere date in late September or early October 2026 — as well as to keep airing Wednesdays at 9/8c as part of a full One Chicago night on NBC.

Randall “Mouch” McHolland, Joe Miñoso as Joe Cruz, Dermot Mulroney as Chief Dom Pascal, Hanako Greensmith as Paramedic in Charge Violet Mikami, Jocelyn Hudon as Lizzy Novak, and Brandon Larracuente as Sal Vasquez. We’ll have to wait to see if everyone returns for Season 15; Mulroney’s Pascal has been written out of the current episodes, but the door is open for his return.
What about the other One Chicago shows?
Chicago Med and Chicago P.D. have both been renewed for their 12th and 14th seasons, respectively.
