Viewers who have been anxiously waiting for Stumble to return after the shocking events of the December 19, 2025 midseason finale can officially celebrate — Stumble is back!

And the next episode will pick up right where the series left off before its winter hiatus. Junior college cheer coach Courteney Potter (Jenn Lyon) will deal with the fallout after discovering that her former assistant coach, Tammy Istiny (Kristin Chenoweth), leaked a video of her partying with her former squad, leading to her dismissal. Having the two characters at odds opens up a new chapter of drama — and comedy — in a universe that is already full of it.

When is Stumble back with new episodes after winter break?
The cheerleading mockumentary returns on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 8:30/7:30c on NBC with Episode 7, “Lorraine.” As always, new episodes will be available to stream the next day on Peacock for any fans who didn’t catch the original airing on NBC — or for those who just want to re-watch the episode.

What will the “Lorraine” episode of Stumble be about?
Judging from the episode’s logline, viewers should expect to witness a seismic shift in Courteney’s personality as she grapples with being betrayed by Tammy.

“Stung by the betrayal of the person who leaked the tape, the once-nurturing Courteney radically transforms into a drill sergeant, her alter ego nicknamed ‘Lorraine,’ more driven than ever to prevail at Daytona, calling in the premier choreographer in the country, while her cheerleaders, terrified of both their new task master and their new romantic feelings for each other, hold on for dear life,” the logline reads.

Stumble’s showrunners really wanted Kristin Chenoweth as Tammy
Stumble’s showrunners, siblings Jeff Astrof and Liz Astrof, revealed in a November 2025 CinemaBlend story that there was one role that they wanted a specific person to portray. Chenoweth was the only star they wanted to play Tammy.

“That was the only person I said, ‘We should get Kristin to do this, and if Kristin won’t do this, we’re not doing the character,'” Jeff explained.Tammy Istiny (Kristin Chenoweth) sips on a drink on Stumble Episode 106.

“I think she thought she was going to be Courteney at first. She goes, ‘Oh, I have to do this Broadway play. Let me see what I can do.’ I was like, ‘No, no, no. We’re going to have you for a few episodes for now,’ but if she became available, we would have her in as many episodes as she would allow us, because, obviously, she’s Kristin Chenoweth,” Jeff added. “She’s amazing. So fun. Everyone was starstruck when she came on the stage.”

As fate would have it, Chenoweth accepted the role — and now her character is the linchpin for one of the most intriguing storyline developments in Stumble so far.
