As the original Bridgerton leading lady, Phoebe Dynevor will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we’ve missed her on our screens in the more recent series.
Phoebe played Daphne Bridgerton all the way back in series one, which dropped in 2020, and although she made a brief appearance in season two, she’s been away from the Ton since then.
Many fans have asked just why that is, especially as other leading ladies from past series have returned for seasons that don’t revolve around their storylines, and now Phoebe has addressed the question.
Speaking on the podcast Collider’s Ladies Night, Phoebe cleared up whether she’d like to come back to the Netflix show and reflected on its success.
‘I just want to say I have not received a call,’ Phoebe said. ‘And when I get that call, I will be there if I can.’
As for why she thinks she and her co-star Rege-Jean Page haven’t come back, Phoebe suggested it might be down to the show’s surprise runaway success.
‘When the first season came out they didn’t know what they needed to put in place. So we were like the ones that got away I think, in a certain way,’ she said.
Phoebe added: ‘But like we would—I can only speak for myself—I would always come back if I was asked.’
Another Bridgerton leading lady, Simone Ashley, who played Kate Sharma in season two, has also spoken publicly about returning to the show in recent days.
Simone, who is starring in the upcoming The Devil Wears Prada 2 film, was the main focus of Bridgerton’s second season alongside Jonathan Bailey.
She told Louis Theroux’s podcast: ‘I can only comment on what me and Jonny have done. We just really make sure that our schedules can just make it work.
‘He flew between Toronto and London back and forth whilst he was filming Wicked. Thank God I’ve not been filming during the start of this year.
‘I’ve done like eight cities in one month. So that would have been a bit nuts to figure out.’
The next season of Bridgerton, series five, will focus on Francesca Bridgerton’s love story with Michaela after her husband died in season four.
